Elder Alex Bryant, NAD President

Glenward Alexander (“Alex”) Bryant, DMin, serves as the president of the North American Division and vice president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Prior to his current position, he served as executive secretary of the North American Division and president of the Central States Conference, as well as temperance director, Youth/Pathfinders/National Service Organization director, and superintendent of education.

  • Dr. Bryant earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in theology and business administration from Oakwood College in 1981. In 1982, he began his ministry in Springfield, Missouri and in Coffeyville and Independence, Kansas. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1986 and earned his Master of Divinity from Andrews University in 1988. In December 2011, he received his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Dr. Bryant also served as a student missionary to Japan for a year. In college, his gift of administration flourished as he served as director of Adventist Youth at Oakwood College and as president of the Black Students Association of the Seminary (BSAS) at Andrews University.

The General Conference Executive Committee also recognized that God had given Dr. Bryant the special gift of leadership and elected him to serve as executive secretary of the North American Division and associate secretary of the General Conference in October 2008, in Manila, Philippines.

Because of his passion for evangelism, he has conducted numerous evangelistic meetings as a pastor, conference administrator, division secretary, and president. He has conducted meetings in Africa, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and London, England, and has literally preached all over the world.  He has planted several churches, and his ministry has resulted in thousands of souls being baptized into the family of God.

In his capacity as NAD executive secretary, he has been a spokesperson for the church in news venues such as Meet the Press, MSNBC, and other news outlets.

Dr. Bryant is married to the former Desiree Wimbish, who currently serves as associate director of the NAD Ministerial Spouses’ Association. Dr. and Mrs. Bryant are the proud parents of three sons: Travis (Jacquelyn), Traven (deceased), Terrence, and three granddaughters: Talia, Kyra, and Theory.

His passion is to serve God with all his heart and to one day, with his family and loved ones, be able to stand together on the sea of glass in the heavens and the earth made new.

Alan J. Reinach, Esq.

Alan J. Reinach is a civil rights lawyer and Seventh-day Adventist minister who has served as Executive Director of the Church State Council, the education, advocacy and legal services ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the western United States, since 1994.

  • Reinach directs the education and advocacy programs of the Church State Council, primarily focused on the separation of church and state and preservation of religious freedom for all peaceful people of faith, of any and every religion and belief.

Reinach also directs the legal services ministry of the Church State Council offering legal assistance to persons of all faiths complaining of religious discrimination in the workplace. His most notable achievement has been obtaining a 9-0 ruling from the Supreme Court in Groff v DeJoy, establishing vigorous protection for those needing religious accommodation in the workplace.

Reinach is a recognized leader in the legal community on issues of religion and the law and serves as co chair of the American Bar Association’s Religious Freedom committee, part of the ABA’s Civil Rights and Social Justice Section. He has also served for many years on the legislative committee of the California Employment Lawyers Association, working to advance workers rights.

Reinach counts among his most notable contributions drafting and helping enact the California Workplace Religious Freedom Act, providing the strongest protections in any state for those seeking religious accommodation at work. Reinach has also worked diligently to ensure that California workplace regulations vigorously protect those seeking religious accommodation. In 2020, one of his proposed regulations was enacted, requiring employers who inquire about scheduling availability to notify job applicants not to indicate if they are unavailable on account of religion.

Reinach is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Law in 1987, and of the State University of New York at New Paltz, with special honors in history, in 1984.
